Charpy Impact Testing
Charpy impact testing measures the energy absorbed by a standardised notched specimen when struck by a swinging pendulum. It characterises a materialโs toughness and brittle-to-ductile transition temperature. ISOย 148-1 is mandatory for structural steels, pressure vessels, and pipelines operating at low temperatures or in impact-prone environments.
