Ground-borne Vibration from Rail Systems

ISO 14837-1 establishes the fundamental framework for measuring and predicting ground-borne vibration generated by railway operations in free-field conditions. This test is essential for assessing environmental impact, particularly for urban and suburban rail networks where vibration transmission to nearby buildings is a concern. Infrastructure operators, urban planners, and environmental consultants rely on this standard to evaluate compliance with local vibration limits and to design mitigation measures.
