Railway Pantograph Head Type 2 Dimensions
This standard specifies dimensional and material requirements for Type 2 pantograph head contacts designed for metropolitan and urban railway systems with different electrical and mechanical demands than main line networks. It defines standardized contact strip profiles to ensure compatibility with metro and tram catenary systems and interoperability across urban transit networks. Manufacturers and transit operators require accreditation of this test to ensure product compliance and safe, reliable operation in metropolitan electrified rail systems. Standardized Type 2 heads reduce compatibility issues and maintenance costs across metro and tram networks.
