Whole-Body Vibration Evaluation for Railway Passenger Comfort
This test applies ISO 2631-1 whole-body vibration assessment methodology specifically to railway passenger comfort evaluation, measuring and analysing human exposure to vibration during train operation. The method uses frequency-weighted acceleration measurements and comfort indices to objectively quantify the vibrational environment experienced by passengers in railway vehicles. It is commonly used alongside EN 12299 to provide complementary assessment of ride quality, supporting vehicle design validation and operational certification. Accreditation ensures correct application of international human factors standards to railway operations and reliable passenger comfort assessment.
What it measures
- Frequency-weighted acceleration in vertical direction
- Frequency-weighted acceleration in horizontal directions
- Vibration dose value (VDV)
- Exposure time and cumulative vibration effects
- Passenger comfort perception indices
