ISO 10816-3

Industrial Machine Vibration Assessment (>15 kW)

ISO 10816-3 specifies vibration evaluation criteria for industrial machines exceeding 15 kW output, measured on non-rotating structural parts at speeds between 120 and 15,000 r/min. This standard defines acceptance zones and diagnostic limits essential for commissioning and in-service monitoring of large industrial equipment. Plant operators, equipment manufacturers, and condition monitoring specialists rely on this test to detect developing mechanical faults and plan maintenance interventions. Accreditation guarantees standardised measurement practices that support production uptime and worker safety in industrial facilities across Europe.

What it measures

  • Vibration velocity in mm/s (RMS) on bearing pedestals
  • Measurement at specified speed ranges and operating conditions
  • Zone classification (A: good, B: acceptable, C: just tolerable, D: unacceptable)
  • Vertical and horizontal vibration components
  • Trend analysis and transient response
