Sound Power Level โ€” Survey Method

This test determines sound power levels of noise sources using an enveloping measurement surface and sound pressure level measurements. It is a survey-grade method suitable for field measurements of machinery, equipment, and industrial sources in moderately reflective environments. The method is widely used for noise compliance verification, product development, and environmental impact assessments. Accredited testing ensures consistent, defensible results for regulatory compliance and product labeling. This method bridges the gap between laboratory-grade precision and practical field measurements.

What it measures

  • Sound power level (Lw) in decibels
  • A-weighted and frequency-weighted sound power
  • Directional sound power distribution
  • Acoustic performance of noise sources
