Railway Composite Brake Blocks - Requirements
This test method establishes performance requirements and acceptance criteria for composite (non-asbestos) brake blocks used in freight wagon braking systems. It evaluates friction characteristics, thermal stability, wear resistance, and compatibility with brake disc or wheel surfaces under representative operational conditions. Freight operators and brake block manufacturers use this test to ensure component reliability and safe braking performance in heavy-duty rail transport.
